Musing on migration

I just flew back from St.Louis to Bangalore.

As I flew home through the air, high above the Earth’s surface, I mused upon the fact that millions of birds do this every year, without aluminum tubes ,warmth, and regular food to cosset them. I think human beings are the most fragile and vulnerable of the earth’s creatures,but the aids they’ve built to protect themselves wind up destroying so much else!

It took me hardly any time to pack my suitcase, but the second one took DnA a long time as they chose important things to send with me, ahead of their own journey to live in my city for (at least) a couple of years.

But not all of us have trouble packing up for long trips. Here’s K2, who took only a few minutes:
