I had seen the Six-Spot Ground Beetle for the first time on the

bngbirds outing to Kalkere

and at Bandipur, in the forest, I was pleased to make its acquaintance again:

Isn’t it a beauty, like a die (one of a pair of dice, and let me have no foolish puns–foolish puns are those that I haven’t thought of myself–about Paradise!) that’s sprouted legs?

Ah, but do not be careless with this creature, for it can deliver a nasty bite…here’s a closeup of those mandibles:

So…no biting humour for this one!
