and though I went looking for GREAT HORNED OWLS, I didn’t find any, but this

BELTED KINGFISHER

sat high upon a tree, flying off with several screeches!

Today there was someone to take care of Biddles at home while I met a friend, Vandana, at the Visitors’ Centre, and took her along on my (fruitless and bootless) amble in search of the owls!
